As Engine Rescue 17 and Rescue 17 responded, Assistant 17 arrived on the scene to find two vehicles off the roadway with heavy damage and was able to confirm entrapment in one vehicle with ejection from a second. County 911 was immediately notified to update the Moshannon Valley EMS.
As Engine Rescue 17, Rescue 17, and multiple EMS units arrived on the scene extrication and patient assessments continued. As assessments were ongoing, the MVEMS chief requested that 3 helicopters be put in the air due to injuries.
Due to the amount of helicopters, it was determined that a landing zone would be established at a nearby church parking lot. With crews from MTFC still conducting work, the Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company and Winburne Fire Company Number One were requested to set up 3 separate landing zones. Once all patients were loaded into an ambulance, Rescue 17 diverted to the landing zone, where Lt 17 established command for all incoming medical helicopters.
Deer Creek Rd and the Allport Cutoof were closed for an extended period while PSP conducted a reconstruction investment.
Penndot and Fire Police from Morris Twp provided traffic control throughout the incident. |
